Reminder about the use of distributed software on campus(21/05/25 revised)

(Updated on Apr. 28, 2023) Although the spread of COVID-19 has settled down and the special measures for each software have been lifted, we will continue to post this page as a reminder of how to use the software. Please follow the conditions of use and use the software appropriately.

In relation to the recommendation of remote work to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, we have received inquiries regarding the use of home-distributed software among the software subscribed to by TSUBAME.
Based on the response from the vendor, the restrictions about each software license are listed as the following, so please use them in compliance with below.

 

Softwares that are not allowed to be taken off-campus and are not allowed to be used by remote connection from off-campus

It is prohibited to take the installed PC off-campus.
It is not permitted to use the machine that installed the software on campus by the remote connection from outside the campus.
Please use them on campus.

  • Abaqus CAE

Softwares that are not allowed to be taken off-campus but are allowed to be connected remotely from off-campus

It is prohibited to take the installed PC off-campus.
It is permitted to use the machine that installed the software on campus by the remote connection from outside the campus.
Please use them by connecting to TSUBAME or the PC installed in the laboratory remotely.

  • Gaussian/Gauss View
  • AMBER
  • PATRAN
  • AVS/Express
  • ANSYS

 

Softwares that use by remote connection from off-campus is not permitted, but use on PCs taken off-campus is permitted

It is not permitted to use the machine that installed the software on campus by the remote connection from outside the campus.
A Home Use License is provided for faculty and staff, so please install and use the Home Use License on a PC taken off-campus.

 

Softwares that use by remote connection from Installation on university budget purchased and managed terminals and off-campus cloud services, etc., with remote connection from off-campus allowed (added 10/21/2021).

It is permitted to installation on a virtual machine on off-campus cloud services such as AWS that is paid for from the university budget and managed by a faculty member. It is also permitted to use the machine that installed the software on campus by the remote connection from outside the campus.

  • AVS/Express

Softwares that separately contracted

Some of the software contracted by GSIC other than TSUBAME will also be posted here.

  • MATLAB
    Since installation on personal PCs is permitted under the Individual license, it can be taken out of the university and used. 
    If you use the license server on campus, you cannot refer to the license server from outside the campus.
  • ChemOffice
    Installation on personal PCs is permitted, so it is possible to take it off-campus.
