Software distribution service
We distribute some software that is site-licensed and permitted using on campus.
This service aims to improve the convenience of the application installed on TSUBAME, and therefore some restriction applies to local use.
Announcements
(2021.08.24) We started distribution of Schrodinger. Only Maestro are available, and calculations are run on TSUBAME.
(2021.04.26) We will not distribute the Intel compiler since ver.2021 because it has been renamed Parallel Studio Xe to the free oneAPI Toolkit. Please download it by yourself.
(2020.03.06) Reminder about the use of distributed software on campus
(2019.01.16) We will terminate distribution of COMSOL at the end of FY2018
(2018.11.08) The binary version for mac OSX is now included in Gaussian.
(2018.01.30) We started the software distribution service of TSUBAME3.
Distribution application list
As GaussView6 requires Gaussian upon installation, we distribute them together.
The license numbers of Materials Studio / Discovery Studio for campus distribution was reduced 40 to 20.
Also, analysis of CASTEP was limited to 4 tokens. Please execute analysis on TSUBAME.

*1 We distribute them as you can not purchase a license personally because of the existence of Tokyo Tech site license agreement.
*2 We distribute the software to make the most of unlimited license.
*3 We distribute because GUI operation on TSUBAME is very slow. (It is not recommended to run a computation on your PC even if it is available. Only use as GUI. There is some functional restriction.)
*4 We do not recommend using Windows XP because have security risk (Microsoft support for Windows XP/7/8 and Windows Server 2008 has ended), and not work in stand-alone. See Tokyo Tech CERT.
Distribution method has been changed for MATLAB, Mathematica, ChemOffice/ChemDraw, so please refer to each section below.
Application procedure
Those who can apply as responsible persons
- Tokyo Tech faculty members (Assistant Professors and above) and full-time employees who are responsible for the budget that paid for purchasing or borrowing the PC to be installed.
Your TSUBAME account is required for application and installation.
Devices that can be installed
- PCs which are assets or expendables of University connected to the campus network. PCs must be managed by a responsible person.
You can not install on PCs owned by students or teachers personally.
Connecting to the campus network is required for license activation. Please verify beforehand that can communicate to the license server and port to be used by ping or telnet command. how to check (only from campus network)
You need an IP address of PC to be installed upon the application. If you do not know the IP address, please check this article.
Please uninstall the software when the registered person leaves TokyoTech or when the installed PC is no longer under the management of the registered person. If the PC remains at TokyoTech and the administrator changes, please let us know. In some cases, re-application may be required.
Who can use
- Persons who have Tokyo Tech IC card (faculty and students)
TSUBAME account is required.
Access card users(ex. visiting researchers) also have access to Gaussian and AMBER only.
Usage fee
- Free. (As of Jan. 2018)
We plan to charge usage fee in future. We will inform you once we decide the cost and procedures.
Procedure (bold text is the work done by the applicant)
- Please fill in the web application form below and apply.
- If there is no problem in the form, we will send you the copy of the application form by e-mail. (Application sample(only from the campus network)) If there is an error in content, we will inform you to reject it by e-mail. (it takes about 2-3 business days (depends on accepting status))
- Please check the contents of the application form, scan the form with the seal of the person in charge, and submit it via e-mail.
- When the application form is accepted, we will send you an installation manual by e-mail.
- Download and install the software following the installation manual. You need TSUBAME account and environment to connect to the TSUBAME FTP server to download.
It becomes available after we configured license server based on applied form. (We do not make any restriction on using distributed software for now, but we will restrict gradually)
We will do periodic maintenance of license server about twice a month after starting restriction, and configure to make new users available at that maintenance time. So there is a period that can not be used for about half a month until the setting is reflected. During maintenance, you can not use the distributed software.
Application form
About installation
Please read the installation instructions included in the distributed document for installation.
- We do not support individual cases of distributed software, because most of the causes of troubles are user environment. Most of the reason why the users cannot connect to the license server is a network error, not a problem in TSUBAME. We do not support the setting of PC or the network of your laboratory, so please ask the person who in charge of your network.
- In addition to this, please resolve yourself when problems occur.
- Please do not use software except for the PC you applied for.
Please do not leak the licenses or information.
Please do not use the software illegally.
Please download and install the software by the applicant himself. - Software distribution service may be terminated due to change of license state or change of GSIC operation policy. Also, if the license agreement is over, we will terminate the service. In that case, you need to uninstall the distributed software.
- Depending on TSUBAME's operation policy, we may suspend the distribution service, or limit the usage.
About the hostname and IP address of the PC to be installed and username.
For the time being, we will not implement restrictions based on this information but will enforce them gradually in future. To prevent access from other than applied IP address, username, we will implement user restrictions linked with the TSUBAME account and plan to charge for use.
