Every year, we receive many inquiries about data not being transferred properly and data necessary for future research not being read or unnecessary data not being erased. The data created by the user belongs to the user, and the user is responsible for properly managing, taking over, and deleting the data. Please manage data properly on a daily basis regardless of the graduation season, as it may suddenly become impossible to access necessary data due to computer failure or sudden illness of a member of the team. In addition, please take extra care to avoid violating laws and regulations from the viewpoint of security export control, especially when there are members who will be leaving Tokyo Tech.(Please refer to the PDF linked at the end of this page)
Specifically, be sure to pull up the data once in the lab before the account is disabled, or set the appropriate permissions on the group disk and change them so that group members can read and write. Also, delete unnecessary data as much as possible. Even data on a group disk cannot be read if the group does not have read permission, and data cannot even be deleted if the group does not have write permission.
In principle, GSIC is not allowed to move or restore data because it is very dangerous to manipulate various data with different capacities, file numbers, and directory structures one by one with administrator authority. Some past inquiries have involved tens of millions of files and directories, and it is not practical to respond to each case individually.
